For many, maritime shipping and port logistics are not just an industry but a big family. The annual biggest family gathering of port professionals and executives just ended yesterday, the IAPH World Ports Conference 2024 in Hamburg. It was not only insightful, inspirational, and informative but also emotional.
Once again, it was a privilege to contribute results and witness the positive and collegial vibes in this community. Over three days, many insights were gained and ideas exchanged on how to leverage the capabilities of the industry to address numerous unknown factors that could determine its future, especially in terms of energy supply chain, infrastructure development, and supply chain resilience.
Together with leading partner associations, the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) and chainPORT launched the study “Port Call Optimization through Data Quality” as one of the significant milestones of the Supply Chain Resilience in Ports Task Force. The study summarizes the learnings and recommendations from the ports and stakeholders who have already implemented port call optimization.
One of the highlights was playing the Port Endeavor Game, an excellent educational tool for port managers and professionals to learn how they could achieve SDGs. The game experience was enhanced by a great team.
